Cookie Policy

Last Updated: [EFFECTIVE_DATE]

Short version: We use only essential authentication cookies and minimal browser storage. We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies.

This Cookie Policy explains how RiseNet ("RiseNet") uses cookies and similar browser storage technologies when you visit risenet.io.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser when you visit. They allow the website to remember information about your visit, such as your login session or preferences. Similar technologies include browser localStorage and sessionStorage.

Cookies can be:

  • Session cookies: Deleted automatically when you close your browser.
  • Persistent cookies: Stored for a defined period or until you delete them.
  • First-party: Set by risenet.io directly.
  • Third-party: Set by services we use (e.g., authentication providers).

2. Cookies We Use

2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for you to log in and use the Service. They cannot be disabled without breaking authentication.

Cookie NameTypePurposeDuration
sb-[project]-auth-tokenSession / HTTP-onlySupabase authentication session token — maintains your logged-in stateSession (refreshed automatically)
sb-[project]-auth-token.0Session / HTTP-onlySupabase session chunk (if token exceeds cookie size limit)Session

These cookies are HTTP-only (cannot be accessed by JavaScript) and Secure (HTTPS only). They are set by Supabase, our authentication provider.

2.2 Functional Cookies

These cookies remember specific preferences and enable features. They are not strictly necessary but improve your experience.

Cookie NameTypePurposeDuration
preview_accessPersistentStores hashed preview password to grant access to preview environments (only active during beta preview mode)30 days

2.3 Analytics Cookies

We use Google Analytics to measure aggregate traffic and usage patterns. This cookie is only set after you explicitly accept via the cookie consent banner. If you decline, Google Analytics is never loaded. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or behavioral targeting. We do not track your behavior across other websites.

3. Browser Local Storage

In addition to cookies, we use browser storage (localStorage) for the following functional purposes:

KeyTypePurposeDuration
waitlist_entrylocalStorageStores your waitlist position and email after joining so you can see your queue number without logging inUntil cleared or you register
BetaBanner_dismissedlocalStorageRecords that you dismissed the beta notification banner so it is not shown againPersistent (until localStorage cleared)

These values are stored locally in your browser and are never transmitted to our servers.

4. Third-Party Cookies

Supabase

Supabase sets the authentication session cookies described in Section 2.1. These are technically first-party (set on the risenet.io domain) but managed by Supabase's infrastructure. See Supabase's Privacy Policy.

Google OAuth

If you sign in with Google, Google may set cookies as part of the OAuth flow. These are governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We do not control these cookies.

No Other Third-Party Cookies

We do not embed any other third-party scripts, widgets, or tracking technologies that would set cookies or track you across the web.

5. How to Control Cookies

5.1 Browser Settings

You can manage cookies through your browser settings:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

Note: Deleting or blocking the strictly necessary Supabase session cookies will prevent you from staying logged in.

5.2 Clearing Local Storage

You can clear localStorage through your browser's developer tools: press F12 → Application tab → Local Storage → risenet.io → Delete.

6. Do Not Track

Some browsers transmit a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. We honor the spirit of DNT: we do not track users across third-party websites. Since we do not use analytics or advertising cookies, enabling DNT in your browser has no material effect on our practices.

7. Changes to This Policy

If our cookie practices change (for example, if we add analytics in the future), we will update this policy, notify registered users, and obtain any required consent before setting new cookies.
