Trust & Safety

Last Updated: [EFFECTIVE_DATE]

This policy describes RiseNet's commitment to maintaining a safe, professional, and respectful environment. It explains what behaviors are prohibited, how we respond to violations, and how to report problems. This policy works with our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy.

1. Our Commitment

RiseNet is built on the belief that meaningful professional connections change careers and companies. To protect that mission, we commit to:

  • Maintaining a platform where users can network without fear of harassment or deception.
  • Responding promptly and fairly to reports of policy violations.
  • Being transparent about how moderation decisions are made.
  • Giving users tools to control their own experience.
  • Protecting the integrity of AI-powered matching by keeping profiles accurate.

2. What We Prohibit

2.1 Harassment and Abusive Behavior

  • Threatening, intimidating, or harassing other users in any form.
  • Sending repeated unsolicited messages after a user has expressed disinterest.
  • Coordinated harassment campaigns targeting specific individuals.
  • Content designed to humiliate, shame, or demean other users.
  • Slurs or dehumanizing language directed at individuals.

2.2 Harmful and Illegal Content

  • Content promoting or facilitating violence, self-harm, or harm to others.
  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any sexualization of minors — reported to law enforcement immediately.
  • Content facilitating illegal activity (fraud, drug trafficking, money laundering).
  • Hate speech targeting groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.

2.3 Spam and Inauthentic Behavior

  • Mass-sending connection requests for non-networking purposes.
  • Sending unsolicited commercial messages or advertisements.
  • Operating multiple accounts or fake accounts.
  • Using bots or automated tools to interact with the platform.
  • Artificially inflating engagement metrics.

2.4 Fraud and Deception

  • Creating a false professional identity or misrepresenting credentials.
  • Impersonating any person, company, or organization.
  • Financial fraud, investment scams, or Ponzi schemes.
  • Soliciting money from users under false pretenses.
  • Offering fake job opportunities or co-founder positions.

2.5 Privacy Violations

  • Sharing another user's private information without consent ("doxxing").
  • Publishing private messages or communications without consent.
  • Attempting to identify anonymous or pseudonymous users.

2.6 Platform Manipulation

  • Inserting misleading content to manipulate AI matching results.
  • Scraping or extracting user data from the platform without authorization.
  • Attempting to bypass authentication or security controls.
  • Accessing other users' accounts without authorization.

3. Professional Standards

RiseNet is a professional networking platform. We expect users to:

  • Represent their professional background and skills honestly.
  • Communicate with other users in a professional, courteous manner.
  • Use the platform for genuine networking and collaboration purposes.
  • Respect that other users may decline connection requests or not respond.
  • Avoid sharing contact information in profile fields not designated for this purpose.

4. Reporting Violations

If you encounter content or behavior that violates this policy:

How to report

Contact us at [SUPPORT_EMAIL] with:

  • The username or profile of the user involved.
  • The specific content or behavior that concerned you.
  • When it occurred (approximate date/time).
  • Any relevant screenshots or evidence.

All reports are treated confidentially. The reported user will not be told who filed the report. In-app reporting buttons are coming in a future update.

5. Moderation Process

5.1 How Reports Are Reviewed

  1. Receipt: Report is logged and acknowledged.
  2. Initial Review: Assessed against our policies — within 3 business days for standard violations, 24 hours for severe violations (threats, CSAM, self-harm).
  3. Investigation: We review the reported content, user history, and context.
  4. Decision: We determine whether a violation occurred and what action to take.
  5. Notification: Where appropriate, we notify the reporting user of the outcome.

5.2 Context Matters

We consider context when reviewing reports. Content that appears problematic in isolation may be acceptable in context, and vice versa. We consider the full history of interactions, not just isolated incidents.

6. Enforcement Actions

ActionDescriptionWhen Applied
WarningUser notified; no account restrictionFirst-time minor violations
Content removalSpecific post, comment, or message removedContent violates policy
Feature restrictionSpecific feature temporarily disabledRepeated violations in a specific area
Temporary suspensionAccount access blocked for 1–30 daysSerious or repeated violations
Permanent banPermanent account terminationSevere violations, CSAM, fraud, repeated serious violations
Legal referralContent reported to law enforcementThreats, CSAM, or illegal activity

7. Account Suspension and Ban Policy

7.1 Temporary Suspension

Applied for second or third non-severe violations, suspicious activity during investigation, or to prevent harm during an ongoing review. Your account and data are preserved during suspension.

7.2 Permanent Ban

Applied for:

  • Severe violations (threats, CSAM, fraud, doxxing).
  • Systematic or repeated violations across multiple policy areas.
  • Circumventing a previous suspension (creating a new account while banned).
  • Coordinated inauthentic behavior at scale.

7.3 Notification

When we suspend or ban an account, we will email the registered address explaining the action taken, the general reason, whether it is temporary or permanent, and how to appeal.

8. Appeals Process

8.1 How to Appeal

  1. Email hi@risenet.io with subject line "Moderation Appeal."
  2. Include your username, the action taken, and why you believe it was incorrect.
  3. Provide any context or evidence supporting your appeal.

8.2 Review and Outcomes

Appeals are reviewed by a different moderator than the one who made the original decision. We respond within 10 business days. Outcomes include: upholding the decision, reversing it, or modifying the enforcement action. Our appeal decision is final.

Appeals are not available for permanent bans related to CSAM, accounts blocked pursuant to law enforcement orders, or bans associated with criminal activity.

9. AI System Integrity

Because RiseNet relies on AI embeddings to match users, we are particularly concerned about attempts to manipulate these systems:

  • Profiles with false or misleading information degrade match quality for all users.
  • Using adversarial text to manipulate embeddings violates this policy.
  • We may remove profiles and prohibit re-registration for users who deliberately game the matching system.

10. Contact
